Orthodox Christians are familiar with the general outlines of the marvelous Life of St. Mary of Egypt and her commemoration on the fifth Sunday of Lent. Although lifted up as a paradigm of repentance, is Mary of Egypt's manner of repentance plausible for Orthodox Christians living in the world? How does the Orthodox Church understand and view repentance? Join us for a conversation of how the story of repentance, as unfolded in the Life of St. Mary of Egypt, offers us glimpses into our own journey of repentance.

You will gain insights from Katy, who has served on Project Mexico’s marketing team since 2017 and is co-owner in business with her husband Shawn, building websites for small businesses. Katy earned her degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Colorado (2009) and is an alum of Holy Cross Seminary, where she studied iconography and graduated in 2017 with a MTS degree.

Cynthia Kostas leads retreats and seminars pertaining to developing our spirit and nurturing our soul through our Orthodox beliefs and practices.

Deeply rooted in the Orthodox faith, Cynthia was baptized and raised at Annunciation Cathedral in Houston, Texas, where she has taught adult catechism and Bible study for over two decades. She has offered Introduction to Orthodoxy classes at both Annunciation and St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, and has spoken at Orthodox churches nationwide, including the Cathedral Center in Boston. Photophoros operates under the direct auspice of the Metropolis of Denver.

Her service has extended to distinguished boards, including  Hellenic College Holy Cross, the Foundation for Hellenic College Holy Cross, the Biology of Inflammation Center at Baylor College of Medicine, Annunciation Orthodox School, and Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral. Prior to her ministry work, she practiced for over 20 years as a financial and estate planner.
